How to Play 7 Wonders?

15 minutes read

7 Wonders is a popular card drafting game where players take on the role of ancient civilizations trying to build the best civilization over three ages. Each player is dealt a hand of cards representing different structures, resources, and abilities that they can build.

The game is played over three rounds, or ages, with each age consisting of six turns. During a turn, players choose one card from their hand to play, then pass the remaining cards to the player on their left or right, depending on the age.

Players can use their resources to build structures, which will earn them points, resources, or special abilities. Each structure also has a cost to build, which must be paid with the appropriate resources. Players can also trade resources with their neighbors to help them build their structures.

At the end of each age, players calculate their points based on the structures they have built, as well as any bonuses they have earned throughout the game. The player with the most points at the end of the third age is declared the winner.

Overall, 7 Wonders is a strategic game that requires players to plan ahead, make tough decisions, and adapt to their opponents' strategies in order to come out on top.

  1. Prioritize military cards: In each Age, look for and prioritize military cards that provide the most military strength. These cards will give you an edge over your opponents in military conflicts.
  2. Balance military with other resources: While military strength is important, it’s also crucial to balance your military efforts with other resources such as coins, resources, and science. This will ensure that you have a well-rounded civilization that can excel in various ways.

  4. Use military tactics: In some cases, it may be strategic to target certain opponents in military conflicts or to focus on defense rather than offense. Use your military cards strategically to outmaneuver your opponents and win military conflicts.
  5. Consider military structures: Military structures such as Walls and Gates can provide additional military strength and bonuses. Consider investing in these structures to further enhance your military capabilities.

How do you differentiate between short-term and long-term goals in 7 Wonders?

In 7 Wonders, short-term goals are typically focused on immediate actions that can be taken in a single turn to gain points or resources. These goals often involve making strategic decisions to choose the best cards to play or resources to acquire in order to meet specific objectives in that turn.

Long-term goals, on the other hand, involve planning for future turns and rounds in order to build a strong and successful civilization over the course of the game. These goals may involve setting up chains of cards that work well together, establishing a strong resource base, or aiming to build specific wonders that will provide ongoing benefits throughout the game.

To differentiate between short-term and long-term goals in 7 Wonders, players should consider the immediate benefits of their actions in the current turn as well as how those actions will affect their overall strategy and progress towards victory in future turns. By balancing short-term gains with long-term planning, players can effectively navigate the complexities of the game and work towards achieving their ultimate goals.
