How to Play Dominion?

18 minutes read

In Dominion, the goal is to accumulate the most victory points by the end of the game. Players start with a deck of basic cards and use them to purchase new cards from the supply in the center of the table. These new cards can then be added to the player's deck and used to play more powerful actions, buy additional cards, or gain victory points.

Each player begins their turn by drawing five cards from their deck. They then use these cards to play actions, buy new cards, and potentially gain additional cards or coins. After their turn, players discard any remaining cards and draw a new hand of five cards.

The game continues in this manner until the supply piles for three card types are empty or the highest victory point card pile is depleted. At that point, players count up their victory points from cards in their deck and the player with the most points wins the game.

Dominion is a deck-building game that requires strategic card play, resource management, and a keen understanding of when to thin out your deck and focus on gaining victory points. With a variety of different kingdom card options and expansions available, each game of Dominion offers a unique and engaging experience for players.

How to store Dominion cards?

There are several ways to store Dominion cards, depending on how many expansions you have and how often you play the game. Here are some suggestions:

  1. Card boxes or binders: You can purchase card boxes or binders specifically designed for trading card games like Dominion. These typically have compartments or sleeves to store your cards neatly and organized.
  2. Deck boxes: If you have a smaller collection of Dominion cards, you can use deck boxes to store them. These are portable and can easily be carried with you to game nights or events.
  3. Custom storage solutions: Some players prefer to create their own storage solutions using containers like plastic bins or storage drawers. You can organize your cards by expansion or card type for easy access.
  4. Card sleeves: To protect your cards from wear and tear, consider using card sleeves. These are available in different sizes and designs, so you can personalize your collection.
  5. Digital storage: If you prefer to keep your cards organized digitally, you can use apps or websites that allow you to track your collection and create decks online.

Ultimately, the best way to store your Dominion cards will depend on your personal preferences and how you like to organize your collection. Just make sure to keep them in a cool, dry place to prevent damage.

How to play Dominion with power ups?

Dominion is a popular deck-building card game where players take on the role of monarchs who are looking to expand their kingdom by acquiring land and resources. Power-ups can add an extra level of excitement and strategy to the game. Here's how you can play Dominion with power-ups:

  1. Choose your power-ups: Before the game begins, decide on which power-ups you want to include in the game. You can choose from a variety of power-ups such as extra actions, extra buys, extra money, trashing cards, or other special abilities.
  2. Set up the game: Set up the game as you normally would, following the instructions in the rulebook. Make sure to shuffle the power-up cards into the Kingdom card deck so that they will be randomly drawn during the game.
  3. Draw power-up cards: When a player plays a power-up card, they can immediately activate the ability on the card. This can give them a significant advantage in the game, so players should strategize on when to use their power-up cards for maximum impact.
  4. Keep track of power-ups: Make sure to keep track of which power-ups have been used by each player. This will help you keep the game fair and balanced, as players should not be able to use the same power-up multiple times in a row.
  5. Continue playing: Play the game as you normally would, following the rules for Dominion. The power-up cards can add an extra layer of strategy and excitement to the game, so make sure to take advantage of them when you can.
  6. Win the game: The objective of Dominion is to earn the most victory points by the end of the game. Use your power-ups wisely to build your deck, acquire land and resources, and ultimately emerge victorious as the most powerful monarch in the kingdom.
